About the role#
As a Tax Intern in Core Tax Services, you will work with experienced professionals to prepare tax returns and extensions. This role provides hands-on experience in tax compliance and consulting. You will support our client base while developing your technical skills and building professional relationships.
What you'll do#
- Prepare simple tax returns, quarterly estimates, and extensions using tax software.
- Collect data to meet filing requirements and organize files to minimize rework.
- Assist with responses to Internal Revenue Service notices and project year-end filings.
- Apply firm policies regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48 and assist with income tax provisions.
- Use online research tools to gather tax information and monitor law developments.
- Communicate viewpoints on tax developments to your team to help maximize client benefits.
- Take initiative on engagement letters and upcoming due dates.
- Ensure compliance with firm policies and tax quality standards.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a related field (Masters preferred).
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Leadership experience is a plus.
