About the role#
The Student Worker for the Waco Habitat for Humanity Construction Assistant role supports the construction of affordable single-family homes. This position involves working off-campus to assist construction leadership with site preparation, material delivery, and volunteer supervision. This is a paid, part-time position requiring up to 20 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Construction Manager and Director of Construction with building tasks ranging from framing to final punch-out work.
- Prepare job sites for incoming volunteers.
- Supervise Habitat homeowners and volunteers during construction activities.
- Deliver materials to work sites and maintain a clean, safe environment.
- Operate power tools and manage the movement of materials in and out of vehicles.
What you'll need#
- Current eligibility for Federal Work Study.
- A valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and navigate uneven surfaces, ladders, and stairs.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff, partnering families, and volunteers.
- Preferred majors include Civil Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, Sociology, or Psychology.
Location & details#
- Location: Waco, Texas.
- Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (minimum 2-3 hour blocks).
- Terms: Summer 2026 and Fall 2026.
- Work Modality: On-site.
