Student Worker - Texas Collection - BC

About the role#

The Texas Collection and University Archives at Baylor University is seeking a student worker to assist with the maintenance and preservation of archival collections, including rare books, maps, and photographs. This position involves supporting daily operations, assisting patrons, and contributing to various special projects within the department.

What you'll do#

• Inventory, process, and preserve archival and library collections.
• Assist with special projects related to manuscript, map, photo, and rare book collections.
• Monitor researchers in the Guy B. Harrison, Jr. Reading Room and assist patrons with scanning requests.
• Perform business operations duties and assist with assigned tasks as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service to clients.
• Participate in professional development activities and training sessions as required.

What you'll need#

• Minimum cumulative Baylor grade point average of 2.5.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong research and writing skills.
• Ability to work with limited supervision, demonstrate initiative, and exercise good decision-making.
• Critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift boxes and other heavy materials.
• Ability to comply with university policies and maintain regular, punctual attendance.
• Majors in History, Communications, Logistics, Human Resources, or Art are preferred.

Location & details#

• Location: Carroll Library, Waco, Texas.
• Term: Fall 2026.
• Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: 10 to 20 hours per week between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
• Compensation: $10.00 per hour.
