About the role#
This position is a paid, on-site tutoring role for the Fall 2026 term. Tutors support middle school and 9th-grade students with math coursework, primarily assisting with homework and GED preparation. This role is reserved for Baylor University students who are eligible for Federal Work Study.
What you'll do#
- Assist students with math assignments and GED work.
- Coordinate with the tutoring manager regarding scheduling, implementation, and evaluation of services.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and CIS staff.
- Ensure program objectives are met according to contractual requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and detailed service logs for every student.
- Attend all required meetings, professional trainings, and functions.
- Maintain a working knowledge of CIS and district policies.
- Ensure the confidentiality of all pertinent information.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Baylor University with Federal Work Study eligibility.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Computer proficiency.
- Ability to function effectively in diverse job situations.
- Ability to transport yourself to and from the work site.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to clear a criminal background check.
- Spanish language skills are considered an asset.
Location & details#
- Location: Waco, Texas.
- Work Modality: On-site at Communities in Schools of the Heart of Texas.
- Schedule: Flexible hours between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
