About the role#
The High School Reading Tutor supports students with their academic reading and homework. This role involves coordinating with the CIS Volunteer Director to manage tutoring schedules and ensuring program objectives are met. Tutors are expected to maintain professional relationships with students and staff while upholding program policies.
What you'll do#
- Assist students with reading assignments and homework.
- Coordinate scheduling and implementation of tutoring services with the CIS Volunteer Director.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and CIS staff.
- Maintain complete and accurate service logs and documentation for each student.
- Attend required meetings, professional trainings, and other CIS functions.
- Ensure program objectives are implemented as outlined.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Baylor University with federal work study eligibility.
- Proficiency in Spanish.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Computer proficiency.
- Ability to transport yourself to and from the work site.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Majors preferred include Psychology, Communications, Sociology, Nursing, Public Health, Human Resources, or Criminal Justice.

- Schedule: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
