About the role#
Baxter & Woodman is hiring a Construction Engineering Intern for our Crystal Lake, Illinois office. This internship begins in May 2027 and offers hands-on experience across our transportation, water, and wastewater departments. You will participate in field observations, work directly with clients, and contribute to the oversight of various infrastructure projects, including roadway, bridge, and sewer construction.
What you'll do#
- Perform quantity computation, construction layout, survey, and inspection tasks.
- Assist engineers with the evaluation, study, and design of transportation, storm sewer, potable water, and sanitary sewer improvements.
- Conduct field work and studies related to water and wastewater system rehabilitation.
- Work on treatment plant improvement projects.
What you'll need#
- Ongoing pursuit of a 4-year degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in construction engineering.
- Availability to start in May 2027.
- Ability to work outdoors for 40+ hours per week.
- Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify and solve problems promptly.
- Capacity to work effectively in a team environment.
- Own transportation and the ability to travel throughout the Baxter & Woodman service area.
