About the role#
Baxter & Woodman is hiring a Transportation Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will support the transportation department with the planning and design of various facilities. This role offers the chance to work directly within a transportation design team while gaining hands-on experience in the field.
What you'll do#
- Perform plan reviews and prepare plans.
- Use CAD software for design tasks.
- Conduct quantity computations and traffic analysis.
- Collect data and assist with survey work.
- Participate in construction inspection activities.
What you'll need#
- Ongoing pursuit of a 4-year degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Transportation Engineering.
- Availability to start in May 2027.
- Ability to travel throughout the service area and access to your own transportation.
- Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Locations: Bannockburn, Chicago, Crystal Lake, Naperville, or Mokena, Illinois.
- Work Modality: On-site and hybrid options.
