About the role#
Barnes Aerospace is seeking a Procurement Intern to join our team in East Granby. This role supports our supply chain operations through data analysis, supplier coordination, and cross-functional projects. You will work directly with our procurement team to manage day-to-day purchasing activities for direct materials and services.
What you'll do#
- Analyze purchasing data and prepare reports on spend, supplier performance, and market trends.
- Assist buyers with supplier follow-up to confirm delivery commitments, pricing, and documentation.
- Support sourcing activities by compiling bid packages and evaluating cost and lead-time tradeoffs.
- Maintain accurate data within our ERP systems and procurement trackers.
- Help manage the Approved Supplier List and supplier onboarding documentation.
- Create training materials and work instructions to support procurement standard work.
- Partner with departments including Planning, Operations, Quality, Engineering, Finance, IT, Legal, and HR on supply-chain initiatives.
- Complete assigned projects, analyze your findings, and present recommendations to leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university as a rising junior or senior.
- Majors in Supply Chain Management, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Proficiency in Excel, including V-lookup, Pivot tables, What-If analysis, and Power Query.
- Familiarity with basic Power BI functions.
- Ability to learn Articulate 360 software for training creation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize tasks effectively in a schedule-driven environment.
- Interest in lean enterprise principles and business process automation.
