About the role#
This paid Nursing Clinical Internship (NCI) offers students the chance to gain hands-on experience within Avera Marshall. Interns work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse mentor to provide patient care and assume accountability for clinical outcomes. The position involves rotating through various departments, including Med/Surg, Long Term Care, Behavioral Health, the Emergency Department, and Labor and Delivery during the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions and communicating care plans.
- Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories and examining patients.
- Instruct patients, families, and friends on healthcare requirements and self-care skills.
- Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by following infection-control policies.
- Manage patient care supplies and keep equipment operating by following established procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a CCNE or NLN accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Completion of all but the final one or two semesters of your nursing program.
- Willingness to enroll in a Minnesota school’s internship course and pay any associated tuition or fees.
- Ability to communicate effectively, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
Location & details#
- Location: Marshall, Minnesota.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 2027 to August 2027).
- Schedule: Full-time, 72 hours every two weeks, with rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Compensation: $20.00 per hour.
