About the role#
The Nurse Clinical Internship (NCI) at St. Michael's Hospital Avera provides nursing students with hands-on experience under the guidance of a Registered Nurse mentor. You will practice at a competent level of care while assuming responsibility for your individual actions and patient outcomes. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position located in Tyndall, South Dakota.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care by reviewing prescriptions and coordinating with the healthcare team.
- Develop nursing care plans, including nursing diagnosis, interventions, and established objectives.
- Educate patients, families, and friends on health conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
- Maintain a safe environment by following infection-control policies and medication administration protocols.
- Document patient care services in department records.
- Manage patient care equipment and maintain necessary medical supplies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a CCNE or NLN accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Completion of all but the final one or two semesters of your nursing degree.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Visual acuity adequate to perform all position duties.

- Schedule: Rotating days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Status: Paid, full-time position with rolling intake.
