About the role#
The Nursing Clinical Internship at Avera Creighton Care Center offers students the chance to practice nursing care under the guidance of a registered nurse mentor. Interns are responsible for their own actions and outcomes while using the nursing process to provide patient care. This role requires a commitment to professional behavior and competent practice in a clinical setting.
What you'll do#
- Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions and coordinating with the healthcare team.
- Offer physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their families.
- Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories and examining patients.
- Document patient physical condition and psychological status in records.
- Teach patients and their families about healthcare requirements and self-care skills.
- Evaluate patient outcomes against established standards and modify care plans as needed.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy care environment while adhering to infection-control protocols.
- Manage patient care supplies and troubleshoot equipment to ensure it remains operational.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a CCNE or NLN accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Completion of all but the final one or two semesters of your nursing program.
- Ability to communicate effectively and distinguish speech and other sounds.
- Adequate visual acuity to perform all position duties.
- Commitment to Avera's mission, core values, and social principles.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively within a team.
- Compliance with all safety principles, laws, and regulations.

- Schedule: Rolling term with rotating days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
