About the role#
This paid internship provides hands-on clinical experience under the guidance of a Registered Nurse mentor. You will rotate through various departments including the hospital, clinic, long term care, surgery, home health, and specialty areas like infusion and diabetic education. This role is designed to help nursing students gain practical experience and explore career paths within Avera.
What you'll do#
- Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions and coordinating with the healthcare team.
- Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, defining nursing interventions, and establishing care objectives.
- Instruct patients, family, and friends on condition management, medications, and self-care skills.
- Evaluate patient outcomes and modify care plans based on changing patient needs.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment by following infection-control protocols and medication administration procedures.
- Document patient care services by charting in department records.
- Manage patient care equipment and supplies to ensure a productive clinical environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a CCNE or NLN accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Completion of all but the final one or two semesters of your nursing program.
- Willingness to enroll in a Minnesota school internship course and pay any associated tuition or fees.
- Ability to perform essential job functions, including visual acuity and effective communication.
Location & details#
- Location: Tyler, Minnesota.
- Schedule: 72 hours every two weeks, with rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $20.00 per hour.
