About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is hiring a Personal Lines Underwriting Intern for the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Lake Elmo, Minnesota. You will work within our underwriting department to learn how we evaluate risks and support our independent agency partners.
What you'll do#
- Learn insurance coverages, contracts, company philosophy, and internal procedures.
- Become familiar with company policies, manuals, forms, and endorsements.
- Analyze loss experience, financial conditions, and physical characteristics of risks.
- Acquire a working knowledge of the various sections within the underwriting department.
- Communicate with independent agents and other employees through verbal and written channels.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in college and entering your junior or senior year.
- Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Economics.
- Ability to organize data, multi-task, and make decisions independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Capacity to resolve complex issues.
- Ability to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.

- Compensation: $22.00 per hour with bonus eligibility.
