About the role#
As a Reading Tutor, you will work with Title 1 students who are learning to read or need help decoding words. You will identify what the student understands and create a plan to help them improve. This role involves direct mentorship and requires a commitment to the Christian mission and vision of Arizona Christian University. You will work under the guidance of a professor to provide ten hours of instruction.
What you'll do#
- Administer pretests to assess a student's current knowledge and abilities.
- Create and teach 10 lessons tailored to the student's specific needs.
- Use formative assessments throughout each session to track progress.
- Reflect on each lesson after it concludes.
- Administer posttests after the 10 sessions to measure growth and suggest next steps.
- Pray with and for students, faculty, and staff.
- Support the university mission from a biblical worldview.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Arizona Christian University.
- A cumulative and semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- A completed FAFSA.
- An active Christian faith and a signed annual agreement to the University Statement of Faith and Core Commitments.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Glendale, Arizona.
- This is an on-site, part-time, paid role.
- Employment is based on Federal Work Study eligibility.
- The term is on a rolling basis.
