About the role#
We are looking for Federal Work Study students to serve as Literacy Intervention Tutors. You will work one-on-one with elementary students to help them reach grade-level reading proficiency by the fourth grade. This role involves both remote and on-site work supporting students in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles regions. You will use a scripted, evidence-based curriculum provided by the program.
What you'll do#
- Tutor students one-on-one using a structured literacy curriculum.
- Track student progress using provided program tools.
- Check in regularly with your Reading Partners team member.
- Assist the Program Coordinator with administrative tasks.
- Attend all required orientation and training sessions.
- Maintain consistent availability between Monday and Thursday, 8 am to 5 pm.
What you'll need#
- Current eligibility for Federal Work Study.
- Residency within the state of California.
- Access to a reliable computer (PC, Mac, or Chromebook) with a webcam, microphone, and headphones.
- Stable Wi-Fi connection for remote sessions.
- Ability to pass a Live scan background check.
- Majors in Public Health, Psychology, Sociology, English, Communications, or Human Resources are encouraged to apply.

- Work modality includes both remote and on-site options.
- This is a part-time role with a rolling term.
