About the role#
This is a Federal Work-Study position for the Fall 2026 term. Peer Tutors provide academic support to undergraduate students in specific courses. You will work with students to reinforce course content, develop study strategies, and promote independent learning. This role offers experience in teaching, mentoring, and communication.
What you'll do#
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions for assigned courses.
- Help students understand course concepts, assignments, and exam preparation.
- Prepare for sessions by reviewing materials and coordinating with students.
- Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and confidentiality during all interactions.
- Track tutoring hours and complete required Federal Work-Study documentation.
- Communicate regularly with staff regarding student progress and scheduling.
- Participate in required training sessions and uphold academic integrity policies.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a junior, senior, or graduate student in the assigned program.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- A grade of B or higher in the specific class you intend to tutor.
- Approval from the program director.
Location & details#
- Location: San Francisco, California (On-site).
- Schedule: Between 1 and 5 hours per week, with a maximum of 20 hours per week permitted.
- Compensation: $19.61 per hour.
- Employment Length: From the third year of study through graduation.
