    About the role#

    This is a full-time summer internship based at the Arconic Technology Center in New Kensington, Pennsylvania. The program lasts at least 10 weeks and pairs you with a manager and mentor to support your professional growth. You will work on research projects that advance materials and manufacturing capabilities, with opportunities to present your findings to business and technical leadership.

    What you'll do#

    • Conduct corrosion testing and benchmarking of aluminum alloys and surface treatments.
    • Investigate the effects of heat treatment and aging on 6xxx alloy filiform corrosion performance.
    • Review technical literature on 7xxx alloy EAC/SCC performance to identify research opportunities.
    • Organize and digitize historical corrosion testing data to help build a centralized, searchable database.
    • Support corrosion assessments for operational needs and alloy development.
    • Collaborate with scientists and engineers on various research projects.
    • Analyze test results and provide technical recommendations.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
    • Expected graduation between August 2027 and May 2028 with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
    • Understanding of experimental design principles in corrosion science.
    • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Legal authorization to work in the United States, as visa sponsorship is not available.
    • Ability to access controlled technology as defined by Export Administration Regulations or International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
    • Enrollment in a Ph.D. program is preferred.
    • Experience in a laboratory environment with corrosion testing equipment and interpreting metallographic data is preferred.
