About the role#
Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Planner Intern or Co-op for a 4 or 8 month term beginning in January 2027. Based in Markham, Ontario, this position supports the Environmental Planning and Permitting team. You will work on infrastructure and development projects, gaining hands-on experience in environmental assessment and natural resource management.
What you'll do#
- Conduct desktop environmental reviews and preliminary site assessments using GIS, mapping tools, and aerial imagery.
- Research and collect data to support environmental planning, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports, permit applications, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including biologists, environmental planners, and cultural heritage specialists.
- Participate in field visits to collect environmental data and document site conditions.
- Support project coordination by tracking information and deliverable schedules.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program for Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field.
- Previous experience through internships, co-ops, academics, or volunteer work in environmental planning or consulting.
- Familiarity with GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro.
- Understanding of environmental permitting and regulatory processes in Ontario.

- This is a paid, full-time position.
- Fieldwork may require walking on uneven terrain, working outdoors in various weather, and carrying equipment up to 30 pounds.
