About the role#
Arcadis is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Intern to join our Resilience team in Columbus, Ohio, for the Summer 2027 term. You will work alongside experienced professionals to provide design and consulting services for municipal water and wastewater facilities. This role focuses on instrumentation, control systems, and network infrastructure.
What you'll do#
- Write technical memorandums and develop design criteria.
- Design SCADA system architectures, communication networks, P&IDs, and process control narratives.
- Produce specifications, control schematics, panel layouts, and interconnection diagrams.
- Coordinate project tasks with mechanical, process, and electrical engineering teams.
- Support construction phase activities by reviewing submittals and responding to contractor RFIs.
- Conduct field inspections, perform quality assurance, and monitor safety compliance.
- Provide electrical design support for low and medium voltage power distribution, lighting, and grounding systems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of industrial network design and implementation.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Project.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in Columbus, Ohio.
- The role is full-time for the Summer 2027 term.
- Travel is required for site-specific services, typically accounting for 5 to 10% of your time.
