About the role#
Hatch is seeking an Environment, People, and Place (EP&P) Student for the Winter 2027 term. You will work from our Calgary office and support project managers on initiatives related to environmental and social impact, urban design, and community engagement. This role offers the chance to collaborate with planners, engineers, and architects on projects that span from initial ideation to final delivery.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to projects across various phases including scope development and final delivery.
- Apply knowledge in areas such as environmental field surveys, impact assessments, ecosystem protection, and urban design.
- Prepare technical documents, reports, and visualizations.
- Perform news scans to keep the team informed on relevant industry events.
- Present your work to team members and clients.
- Assist leadership and colleagues with daily project needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Environmental Engineering, Biology, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related program at an accredited university.
- Strong academic standing.
- Interest in a career within the environmental, sustainability, or urban design sectors.
- Ability to think critically and creatively to solve complex problems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and mathematics.
- Experience with GIS software for geospatial analysis.
- Strong organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team and learn new tasks quickly.
- Extracurricular involvement or previous experience in a consultancy environment is an asset.
