Student Worker - Food Service or Catering

About the role#

This is a paid, full-time student worker position based at Sam Houston State for the Summer 2026 term. This role provides an opportunity to gain experience in food service and catering operations while developing customer service and professional skills.

What you'll do#

• Prepare and assemble food items following standardized recipes and directions.
• Store food products in accordance with established safety standards.
• Set up, break down, clean, and sanitize workstations, including prep tables and service counters.
• Serve food to customers, anticipate guest needs, and maintain a positive demeanor.
• Replenish and stock food items to ensure appropriate levels are maintained.
• Adhere to safety policies, including food safety and sanitation protocols, and ensure the security of company assets.

What you'll need#

• Ability to demonstrate strong guest service skills.
• Must hold or be willing to acquire a food safety certification.
• Previous food service experience is preferred.
• Ability to meet physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking.
• Enrollment in Business Administration, Nutrition, or Civil Engineering is preferred.
