Student Worker - Food Service or Catering

About the role#

This is a full-time Student Worker position in Food Service or Catering for the Summer 2026 term at the University at Albany. This role is open to students, including those majoring in Civil Engineering, who are interested in gaining experience in hospitality operations.

What you'll do#

• Prepare and build food items following standardized recipes and directions.
• Properly store food in accordance with safety standards.
• Set up, break down, clean, and sanitize workstations, including prep tables, service counters, and steam tables.
• Serve food to customers while ensuring guest satisfaction and anticipating needs.
• Replenish food items and maintain appropriate stock levels.
• Adhere to safety policies, including food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Maintain a positive demeanor toward guests, clients, and co-workers.

What you'll need#

• Previous food service experience is preferred.
• Must possess or be willing to acquire a food safety certification.
• Strong guest service skills.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking.
• Willingness to wear uniforms or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
