About the role#
This internship at The Hotel Hershey provides hands-on experience in a professional pastry environment. Interns rotate through various functions, including a la carte service, bulk production for banquets, banquet execution, and morning baker positions. Depending on interest and performance, there are opportunities to learn about wedding cakes, confections, and showpieces. This is a paid, on-site position for the Fall 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Prepare pastry products and stations in assigned areas.
- Ensure all food preparation meets The Hotel Hershey standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized food production area.
- Follow the guidance of the Sous Chef and Pastry Cook I.
- Control waste and follow all company procedures and regulations.
- Assist other departments as necessary.
What you'll need#
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Currently enrolled in a Baking or Pastry Arts program or a recent graduate within the last 6 months.
- Must provide your own knives.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong communication skills for working with the culinary team.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, including extreme heat.
Location & details#
- Location: Hershey, Pennsylvania.
- This is a union position with schedules based on seniority.
- Housing may be available for a fee of $160 per week, which includes utilities and is deducted from paychecks.
- Employees must provide their own slip-resistant, non-skid shoes.
