About the role#
Orbital Kitchens is looking for culinary students to gain hands-on experience in research and development, recipe testing, and large-scale food production. This position offers a chance to explore the industry beyond traditional restaurant kitchens. You will work with our Culinary and R&D teams to learn how food concepts are developed, tested, scaled, and documented for high-volume production. We do not require previous R&D experience, but we value a solid culinary foundation and a curiosity about how food production works at scale.
What you'll do#
- Assist with recipe development and culinary trials.
- Prepare ingredients and recipes for R&D testing.
- Help scale recipes from small tests to large-batch production.
- Participate in batch-cooking and production tests.
- Record yields, measurements, cook times, temperatures, and testing observations.
- Assist with tastings and product evaluations.
- Maintain standardized recipes and culinary documentation.
- Support shelf-life and product stabilization testing.
- Work with Culinary and Operations teams to improve food quality and consistency.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and food-safe working environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a culinary arts or related program.
- Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and food-safety standards.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Comfort working in a professional kitchen environment.
- Interest in learning about large-scale food production.
