About the role#
This is a 12-week project-based internship where you will work with the Geotechnical and Mine Planning teams on our Nevada Projects portfolio. You will own a core technical project from start to finish, manage your own timelines, and deliver a final technical report and presentation to leadership.
What you'll do#
- Take ownership of a dedicated 12-week project.
- Manage project timelines and deliver a final technical report and presentation.
- Review geotechnical engineering deliverables and design criteria for open-pit slopes, waste dumps, and infrastructure.
- Assist the team with technical trade-off studies to support mine planning solutions.
- Support the design, execution, and data analysis of geotechnical investigation and testwork programs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a rising senior in an Undergraduate program or as a final-year Master's or PhD student.
- Pursuit of a degree in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Foundational knowledge of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, hydrology, and engineering geology principles.
- Familiarity with or interest in open-pit operations and geotechnical software like Rocscience or Unwedge.
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to analyze datasets, draw logical conclusions, and present findings clearly.
- A collaborative mindset and an eagerness to ask questions.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites if needed.
