About the role#
The Mining Engineering Intern partners with the Mine Planning and Operations teams to support engineering projects for our Nevada Projects portfolio. This is a project-based internship where you own a core technical project from start to finish rather than performing generalized administrative tasks. You will gain hands-on experience and conclude the program by delivering a technical report and presentation to leadership.
What you'll do#
- Take ownership of a dedicated 12-week project and manage your timelines.
- Review and develop engineering deliverables like short-range or long-range mine plans, scheduling, and drill and blast designs.
- Assist with technical trade-off studies, haulage optimizations, and equipment sizing evaluations.
- Support the design, execution, and data analysis of mine production tracking.
- Contribute to continuous improvement programs.
- Deliver a final technical report and presentation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a rising senior in an Undergraduate program or as a final-year Master's or PhD student.
- Pursuit of a degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Foundational understanding of open-pit or underground mining methods, mine planning principles, and earthmoving equipment operations.
- Familiarity with or interest in mine planning software platforms.
- Strong technical writing, reporting, and presentation skills.
- Ability to analyze datasets, draw logical conclusions, and present findings clearly.
- A collaborative mindset with an eagerness to learn and ask questions.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- A valid driver's license.
