About the role#
Ames Construction is hiring an Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position. You will work on highway, heavy civil, and industrial construction projects. The role provides hands-on experience in project management, document control, and field operations while allowing you to build professional contacts in the industry.
What you'll do#
- Support highway, heavy, and civil construction site activities, project management, or estimating.
- Assist with document control, submittals, and monthly billing processes.
- Collaborate with field operations, safety, or environmental teams to meet project requirements.
- Perform other assigned tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a junior or senior in a Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management degree program.
- Prior experience working on civil or other construction sites.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage your time effectively and pay close attention to detail.
- A valid driver’s license.
Location & details#
- Location: Belle Glade, Florida.
- This role requires the physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach, and climb in a construction environment with high noise levels.
- Travel to project locations and regional offices is expected.
