    About the role#

    The Baker School of Education is looking for a student to join our team as a Graduate Storytelling Support member. You will help us share the research and teaching happening within our school by creating content for our website, newsletter, and social media channels. This position offers a chance to build your portfolio while working with faculty, staff, and alumni across the university.

    What you'll do#

    • Write and edit articles for various school publications.
    • Interview students, faculty, staff, and alumni via email, Zoom, or in person.
    • Record and edit professional videos for YouTube and social media.
    • Take photographs and design graphics to support our marketing efforts.
    • Compile and distribute the school newsletter.
    • Assist with the planning and execution of marketing campaigns.
    • Manage your own workflow and stay organized across multiple projects.
    • Use digital tools like HootSuite to manage social media and organize assets.

    What you'll need#

    • You must be an enrolled student at American University.
    • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
    • You should be comfortable interviewing a diverse range of people.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook.
    • Experience with video recording and editing is preferred.
    • Prior experience with social media promotions beyond personal use is helpful.
    • An interest in marketing, visual arts, or influencer strategies is a plus.
    • Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Spring Valley Campus, Washington, DC.
    • Modality: Hybrid, with onsite work required for video interviews and occasional events.
    • Schedule: Part-time, 10 hours per week.
    • Term: Rolling.
    • Compensation: $20.00 per hour.
