    About the role#

    The American Heart Association is seeking an intern for the Regional Business Operations Team. This position provides hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, legal data management, donor systems, and finance processing. You will support the planning, execution, and follow-up of behind-the-scenes operational functions to help the organization meet its health goals.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the processing of local event contract backlogs and enter contract details into Optimus.
    • Track legal documentation and assist with preparing Letters of Agreement and internal proposals.
    • Manage donor data by entering guest lists, table assignments, and bidder paddle information into Greater Giving.
    • Perform weekly data quality checks across platforms including Givergy, Luminate, Salesforce, and Tableau.
    • Process event-related documentation and invoices within Salesforce.
    • Collaborate with regional leads to design event graphics and create training materials or short onboarding videos.
    • Update and maintain standard operating procedures and SharePoint resources.
    • Prepare printed materials, donation receipts, and thank-you cards.
    • Assist with the creation of agendas and materials for departmental and operations meetings.

    What you'll need#

    • Current status as a senior or graduate student in Business, Nonprofit Management, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Event Management, Legal, or a related field.
    • Interest or experience in business management, data analytics, nonprofit operations, or project coordination.
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with basic knowledge of Canva.
    • Strong written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
    • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
    • Preferred experience with Salesforce, contract management, or accounts payable.
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

    Location & details#

    • This is a remote role for candidates located within the United States.
    • The internship term runs from January 25, 2027, to May 7, 2027.
    • Availability of 25 hours per week is required, Monday through Friday, between 8:30am and 5:00pm Central Standard Time.
    • A reliable WiFi connection is required for remote work.
    • This is a paid internship at a rate of $23.00 per hour.
