About the role#
The American Heart Association offers an internship program for students looking to gain hands-on experience within a non-profit health organization. This role supports the Oregon and SW Washington team with fundraising campaigns, event logistics, and administrative tasks. You will contribute to the planning, execution, and follow-up of various initiatives while developing practical professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Development and Operations teams with fundraising campaign logistics and administration.
- Support projects from initial planning through day-of execution and post-campaign wrap-up.
- Manage external communication by calling and emailing donors, volunteers, and third-party vendors.
- Use event support systems for data entry and report generation.
- Create and update marketing collateral, including invitations, social media posts, and volunteer rosters.
- Help with volunteer management, including preparation for and attendance at community meetings.
- Research prospects to identify new leads and organize information for fundraising efforts.
What you'll need#
- Senior or graduate student status in business, communications, event planning, or non-profit management.
- Experience or interest in fundraising, sales, or promotion.
- Background in event planning for a non-profit or for-profit organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canva.
- Comfort communicating with community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
- Experience using multiple social media platforms.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a busy environment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: Portland, Oregon.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 25, 2027, to May 7, 2027).
- Modality: On-site.
- Commitment: Minimum of 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm.
- Requirements: Reliable transportation and a stable WiFi connection.
