About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience within the Development Team at the American Heart Association. You will support fundraising initiatives such as Heart Walk, Go Red for Women, and Heart of Houston. This role provides exposure to campaign management, donor stewardship, and community engagement in a non-profit environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the planning and implementation of fundraising campaigns and volunteer activities.
- Conduct prospect research to identify potential corporate and community partners.
- Manage data entry and report generation using Salesforce and Tableau.
- Prepare campaign collateral, meeting materials, and presentations.
- Provide administrative support for volunteer committees, including scheduling and follow-up.
- Communicate with volunteers, sponsors, and community partners.
- Create and update marketing materials, including print, TV, and social media content.
- Support special events through pre-event preparation and post-event follow-up.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a senior or graduate student in business, communications, public relations, nonprofit management, or event management.
- Interest or experience in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canva.
- Experience with multiple social media platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Comfort with vendor outreach via phone and email.
- Strong communication skills for working with community leaders and staff.
- Minimum availability of 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

- Compensation: $23.00 per hour.
