About the role#
As a Cybersecurity Analyst intern, you will join a 10-week summer program within the Enterprise Technology Services organization. You will contribute to protecting American Express information systems, customer data, and digital assets. This role involves working with cybersecurity teams, product partners, and software developers to understand how security controls and threat detection capabilities are designed and implemented.
What you'll do#
- Monitor security systems and events to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Triage and investigate security or operational issues to determine root causes and mitigation strategies.
- Assist with security documentation, assessment findings, remediation tracking, and reporting to support compliance.
- Collaborate with software development and product teams to learn how security is integrated into the software development lifecycle.
- Conduct research on emerging cyber threats, security technologies, and AI-enabled security risks.
What you'll need#
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Data Science.
- Graduation date must be between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Foundational understanding of cybersecurity, information security, application security, network security, cloud security, or technology risk concepts.
- Interest in scripting or automation using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Strong communication, analytical thinking, discretion, and attention to detail, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
