About the role#
This internship program provides an opportunity to work within the Controllership function of the American Express Finance organization. Interns will gain exposure to core accounting activities while supporting the team in maintaining financial integrity and driving business value through strategic partnership.
What you'll do#
- Complete a project focused on solving a real business challenge for the organization.
- Assist with monthly general ledger close activities, including the completion of journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Support the production and review of monthly and quarterly financial reports.
- Perform variance analysis and analytical procedures for assigned general ledger accounts.
- Partner with subject matter experts to support key Controllership accounting activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a full-time bachelor’s degree program with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Preferred majors include Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or Economics.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate large data sets, identify trends, and generate insights.
- Effective communication skills to synthesize complex data into clear narratives for diverse audiences.
- An agile mindset, characterized by a proactive attitude, adaptability to change, and self-motivation.
- Ability to lead with courage, build professional relationships, and influence change.

- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: This is a full-time, on-site position.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
