About the role#
This internship program provides an opportunity to work within the Controllership function of the American Express Finance organization. Interns will gain exposure to financial expertise, analytics, and risk management while supporting the team in maintaining high standards of financial integrity.
What you'll do#
- Complete a project focused on solving a real business challenge for the organization.
- Assist with monthly general ledger close activities, including the completion of journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Support the production and review of monthly and quarterly financial reports.
- Perform variance analysis and analytical procedures for assigned general ledger accounts.
- Partner with subject matter experts to support key Controllership accounting activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a full-time bachelor’s degree program in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or Economics.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate large data sets, identify trends, and generate insights.
- Effective communication skills to synthesize data into clear narratives for diverse audiences.
- An agile mentality, characterized by a motivated, self-starting attitude and the ability to adapt to change.
- Ability to act and lead with courage, establish professional relationships, and influence change.
