About the role#
As a Staff Auditor intern within the Internal Audit Group, you will gain hands-on experience in operational auditing. You will work on projects that expose you to various portfolios, helping you understand the American Express business model while learning to apply internal audit methodology. This role focuses on developing your ability to identify and evaluate risks, business process controls, and technology controls.
What you'll do#
- Serve as a key team member on operational audit projects by evaluating risk, documenting processes, and implementing audit tests.
- Research and learn about specific audit entities.
- Deploy critical thinking to assess potential business impacts and use evidence to support risk and control conclusions.
- Support leaders and senior auditors by collaborating in a team environment, attending walkthroughs, and detailing work papers.
- Partner with business process audit teams and management to understand key processes, develop control tests, and interpret results.
- Build audit proficiency through ongoing professional development and the strengthening of data skills.
- Produce deliverables such as audit planning checklists, work papers, and audit reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a full-time Bachelor’s degree program.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, information systems, data analytics, computer science, business administration, or an information technology related field.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without company-provided visa sponsorship.
