About the role#
The Internal Audit Group (IAG) at American Express provides independent, risk-based assurance to influence how the company manages risk. As a summer intern, you will gain hands-on experience within the third line of defense by supporting operational audit projects. You will learn to apply our internal audit methodology while gaining a deeper understanding of the American Express business model.
What you'll do#
- Serve as a key team member on operational audit projects by evaluating risk and documenting processes under review.
- Implement audit tests, including business process and technology control tests, and detail results in accordance with IAG methodology.
- Research and learn about audit entities to support project objectives.
- Partner with business process audit teams and management to understand key processes, risks, and controls.
- Build audit proficiency through ongoing professional development, with a focus on strengthening data skills.
- Support senior auditors by attending walkthroughs, documenting work papers, and contributing to audit reports.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s degree program.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Ability to work in the United States without company visa sponsorship.
