About the role#
As a Cybersecurity Intern in Enterprise Technology Services, you will join a 10-week Summer Internship Program. You will contribute to work that protects American Express information systems, customer data, and digital assets. You will work alongside peers and leaders to support cybersecurity operations, secure architecture, and identity management. This role offers an opportunity to learn how security controls and threat detection capabilities are designed and implemented.
What you'll do#
- Monitor security systems and events using various tools, alerts, and logs to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Triage and investigate security or operational issues to determine root causes and potential mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with software development and product teams to learn how security is integrated into the software development lifecycle and secure coding practices.
- Assist with security documentation, assessment findings, remediation tracking, and reporting to support compliance and security posture improvements.
- Conduct research on emerging cyber threats, security technologies, and AI-enabled security risks to support team decision-making.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Foundational understanding of cybersecurity, information security, application security, network security, cloud security, or technology risk concepts.
- Interest in scripting or automation using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Strong communication, analytical thinking, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
