About the role#
The Sales Intern role provides support to our wholesaling teams. You will help identify regional sales opportunities, support marketing campaigns, and assist with pre-sale activities that drive fixed and fixed index annuity sales. This position offers exposure to the financial services industry and the collaborative work that supports sales growth at American Equity.
What you'll do#
- Shadow Internal Wholesalers to learn their daily duties and functions.
- Gain a foundational understanding of annuities and how they fit into the financial planning process.
- Learn our product lineup and unique capabilities.
- Assist teams with illustrations, pre-sale support, advisor list segmentation, and marketing campaign execution.
- Build relationships with departments like Marketing, National Accounts, and Customer Excellence.
- Use software tools including Salesforce CRM, illustration software, and customer service databases.
- Complete projects and support tasks under the guidance of a mentor and department leader.
- Collaborate with other interns on a strategic, cross-functional initiative.
What you'll need#
- Active pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Finance, Economics, Insurance and Risk Management, Business Management, or a similar field.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to build relationships with internal and external partners.
- Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to prioritize requests and meet deadlines.
