About the role#
The Information Security Intern joins the IT Security team to gain hands-on experience in a professional environment. You will work on daily security operations, contribute to specific projects, and learn how a security organization functions. This role is part of the Launchpad Internship Program, which provides mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities over the course of your internship.
What you'll do#
- Assist with information security analyst processes, including the detection, investigation, and reporting of events.
- Collaborate with security engineers to design and implement various projects.
- Participate in rotations across security disciplines like governance, forensics, architecture, and access control.
- Apply information security frameworks, standards, and best practices.
- Update existing systems to support security controls and project requirements.
- Document departmental procedures and provide input on existing standards.
- Attend project team meetings, company meetings, and 1:1 sessions with management.
- Work with the team to build information security awareness across the company.
- Interface with internal business areas, other IT teams, and external resources for problem solving.
- Track and report on task progress to ensure project timelines are met.
- Partner with other interns on a strategic, cross-functional initiative.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Managing Information Systems, or a related computing field.
- General understanding of security technologies for networks, servers, databases, websites, and applications.
- Strong mathematical skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt to change, and handle unexpected events.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information clearly.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to build relationships with internal and external partners.
- A self-motivated approach with a high level of accountability.

- This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in West Des Moines, Iowa.
- The role operates on a rolling basis.
