About the role#
The Tax Intern joins the Tax Team to support federal and state tax compliance, income tax provision preparation, and reporting activities. This summer internship provides hands-on exposure to corporate taxation, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. You will work in our downtown Des Moines office as part of the Launchpad Internship Program.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the preparation of federal and state indirect tax filings, including premium, withholding, franchise, sales and use, and excise taxes.
- Support data collection and organization for income tax return preparation.
- Compile documentation for tax audits and tax authority inquiries.
- Gather financial data and prepare supporting schedules for quarterly and annual income tax provisions.
- Support the reconciliation of tax-related accounts and prepare workpapers.
- Maintain tax documentation and supporting files.
- Collaborate with fellow interns on a cross-functional initiative.
What you'll need#
- Active pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on Excel.
- Basic accounting knowledge and analytical skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational habits.
- Ability to work cooperatively with employees and external partners.
