About the role#
This internship provides a comprehensive look at how products move through a retail supply chain. You will work on-site at our Distribution Center in Maryville, Tennessee, gaining experience that ranges from initial product receipt to final delivery for our stores and e-commerce guests. The program begins with two weeks of hands-on operational work, followed by rotations through inventory management, vendor compliance, transportation, and data analytics.
What you'll do#
- Develop an end-to-end understanding of retail supply chain and Distribution Center operations.
- Work alongside Distribution Center associates and leaders.
- Participate in cross-functional rotations and team meetings.
- Assist with data collection, reporting, and analysis.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, inventory accuracy, quality, cost, or service.
- Support special projects and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and present observations, findings, and recommendations at the end of the term.
- Follow all Distribution Center safety policies and operating procedures.
- Perform picking, packing, order processing, and problem-solving for e-commerce orders.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Willingness to participate in physical Distribution Center processes during the first two weeks.
- Strong interest in supply chain, retail operations, distribution, logistics, or data analytics.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with associates at all levels.
- Above average proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a willingness to learn new systems and analytical tools.
- Self-motivated and adaptable with the ability to maintain a positive attitude while balancing multiple priorities.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to safely bend, reach, and lift merchandise or packages.
