About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Indianapolis, Indiana. You will join the Indy Exits process engineering team to contribute to assembly, coatings, and fabrication projects. This role involves hands-on work with tooling, equipment design, and new product launches.
What you'll do#
- Design engineering solutions for tooling, fixturing, and controls.
- Quote equipment, present options, and manage implementation alongside maintenance and engineering teams.
- Support execution activities for robotic automation projects within assembly operations.
- Provide solutions that improve safety, quality, and delivery by using LEAN production practices and DFA principles.
- Assist with operational improvements for the Exits business unit.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Experience or coursework in 3D modeling software, such as Creo.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- A strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- A self-starter attitude with the ability to manage multiple small tasks under supervision.
- A willingness to collaborate cross-functionally in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
