About the role#
This is a paid, full-time internship based in Chicago. You will work on fire suppression system projects and gain hands-on experience in the construction industry. The position follows a rolling term structure.
What you'll do#
- Design layouts for fire alarm and special hazards fire protection systems using AutoCAD.
- Run computer-generated hydraulic calculations.
- Create submittal drawings to secure building permits.
- Perform 3D BIM coordination using NavisWorks.
- Prepare project operation, maintenance, and close-out documents.
- Assist with project scheduling, field surveys, and material stock listing for pre-fabrication.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical, Civil, or Computer Engineering program.
- Good academic standing.
- Prior experience working in AutoCAD.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with the construction industry is beneficial.
