About the role#
This internship offers a chance to gain hands-on experience in agricultural finance and lending. You will work alongside Financial Officers to learn how to advise customers on products that fit their operations and priorities. You will also support local community outreach and contribute to meaningful projects.
What you'll do#
- Learn office procedures and assist with promotional activities.
- Input and analyze annual financial information from customers.
- Conduct credit verifications with lenders and references.
- Complete assigned special projects.
- Observe marketing, sales, and prospecting calls.
- Shadow the loan process, including new applications, renewals, and closings.
- Gain insight into real estate and chattel appraisals by observing the appraisal process.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor's or master's degree in Ag Business, Accounting, Finance, Agricultural Economics, Animal Science, or a related field.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A genuine interest in learning about the credit and lending side of agriculture.

- Location: Huron, South Dakota.
- Term: Summer 2027 (12 weeks).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Travel: You must be available to travel to Omaha, Nebraska, three times for orientation, mid-summer, and closing events. Travel expenses are covered.
