About the role#
This position is for a Student Nurse Scholar at the Carolinas Medical Center 3T Medical/Oncology unit. You will gain hands-on clinical experience while supporting the nursing team in a hospital setting. This is a part-time, on-site role that requires working 12-hour shifts, including rotating holidays and weekends.
What you'll do#
- Support patients with activities of daily living, personal hygiene, feeding, and ambulation.
- Take vital signs, height, and weight measurements.
- Perform technical tasks including 12-Lead Electrocardiograms and routine venipuncture.
- Assist with additional tasks such as oxygen therapy, nutrition activities, and sterile technique after completing required training.
- Maintain patient rooms, manage supply inventory, and observe and report changes in patient conditions.
- Handle clerical duties like answering phones, data entry, and maintaining medical records.
- Orient patients and families to the unit and explain safety measures.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in good standing in a Registered Nurse academic program.
- Active listing with the applicable state Department of Health and Human Services Nurse Aide I Registry prior to your start date.
- Current BLS certification.
- Ability to lift and support 35 pounds.
- Strong English communication skills and manual dexterity.
- Completion of the Nurse Aide I+4 course, which includes e-learning, skills practice, and RN-validated observations.

- Location: Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, North Carolina.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Part-time, 12-hour shifts including days and nights, with rotating holidays and weekends.
