About the role#
Advanced Behavioral Health Inc. is hiring an Accounting Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This is a paid, part-time position based in Frederick, Maryland. You will work directly with our finance team to support day-to-day accounting operations and gain practical experience with financial reporting and organizational tasks.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll for employees.
- Verify and input time records, leave balances, and salary changes into the payroll system.
- Compile compensation spreadsheets for clinical staff using data from the electronic medical record system.
- Research state and federal payroll regulations to ensure company compliance.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate with human resources and other departments to maintain accurate employee data.
- Provide customer service to staff and vendors regarding payroll inquiries.
- Assist with administrative tasks like filing, scanning, and data entry.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program for Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Familiarity with general accounting principles (GAAP) and payroll laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
- Integrity and discretion when managing confidential financial data.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with QuickBooks is a plus.

- Schedule: Part-time, 20 hours per week.
- Compensation: $15 per hour.
