About the role#
As a Human Services Intern, you will work directly with clients to support their personal goals and daily activities. You will learn by shadowing experienced team members and contributing to the daily operations of our programs. This role is designed for students who need to earn credit hours toward their degree.
What you'll do#
- Coach and teach new skills to clients to help them reach their potential.
- Support individuals as they pursue their personal interests and participate in meaningful activities.
- Model appropriate behaviors and maintain healthy boundaries.
- Assist with client intakes and group facilitation.
- Write case notes and document client progress.
- Observe and report on how clients engage with activities.
- Participate in team discussions regarding client outcomes and core competencies.
What you'll need#
- You must be an undergraduate student currently enrolled in a Human Services or related degree program that grants credit for this internship.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to create an encouraging and accepting environment.
- Previous experience in human services is helpful but not required.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Middletown, New York.
- The role is on-site and unpaid.
- Hours are flexible between Monday and Friday, 8am to 6pm.
- This is a full-time internship with rolling start dates.
