About the role#
As an Applications Engineer Intern, you will solve technical challenges related to deploying infrastructure in diverse environments. You will take a systems-based approach to identify, validate, and integrate off-the-shelf systems and commercial products that meet our ground infrastructure requirements. Your work ensures that our hardware functions reliably in every unique application, from remote monitoring networks to specialized service apparatus.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to the development, testing, and deployment of system improvements for our ground systems and commercial operations.
- Develop and implement technical solutions for specialized needs, such as maintenance lifting apparatus or weather sensing arrays.
- Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with external vendors to source high-availability products.
- Work with engineering and deployment teams to refine site requirements and turn them into functional systems.
- Define the handover materials and processes required to move new solutions into sustaining operations.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least your second year of undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software systems.
- Experience reading data sheets, layouts, and schematics.
- CAD skills using Siemens NX or Solidworks.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.
- Willingness to travel and work outdoors at test sites for hands-on development.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship based in South San Francisco, California.
- The term runs from January 2027 through April 2027.
- This position is paid at a rate of $40 per hour.
