You will join the Droid Planning team, which manages the full autonomy stack including perception, decision making, and motion planning. This role involves working with a state-of-the-art system to translate data insights into actionable improvements.
What you'll do#
- Analyze flight data to extract key performance features and identify improvements for motion planning in uncertain environments.
- Apply statistics, data analysis, and machine learning techniques to increase delivery reliability.
- Design and run validation experiments to measure success and failure rates under various real-world conditions.
- Develop tools and pipelines to evaluate motion planning models and quantify uncertainty.
- Collaborate with perception, autonomy, and flight testing teams to see how your work integrates across the robotics stack.
- Gain experience with the end-to-end process of deploying autonomy at scale.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
- Familiarity with learning-based planning methods.
- Proficiency in software development with the ability to write safe and performant code.
- A willingness to learn new languages and adapt to new challenges.
- A statistical reasoning and validation mindset, including the ability to design experiments, account for bias and variance, and interpret results.
- Structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down ambiguous problems into hypotheses and executable plans.
- Comfort making and testing assumptions.
