About the role#
As a Flight Test Engineering Intern, you will analyze flight test data to determine test effectiveness, identify root causes for successes or failures, and track performance trends. You will contribute to the design of new flight test campaigns by collaborating with engineers to define test scope, methods, and data post-processing. This role offers exposure to how complex robotic systems are validated through simulation, hardware testing, and system-level evaluations.
What you'll do#
- Analyze flight test data logs using Python, DataBricks, and SQL to identify anomalies, assess reliability, and perform regression analyses.
- Design, oversee, and review software validation and flight test campaigns to ensure new features perform as intended.
- Monitor the develop branch daily to surface instability and potential issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure system-level requirements are clear and measurable.
- Define and develop test infrastructure, including application-based tools and new instrumentation systems.
- Maintain documentation, dashboards, and SQL search queries to track test progress.
- Own aspects of flight operations, including preflight, launch, and flight maneuvers.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in physics, mathematics, mechanical, aerospace, systems, computer science, or electrical engineering.
- Strong background in mathematics and physics.
- Experience in autonomous vehicle or robotic system integration and testing.
- Experience with data processing and visualization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site position based in South San Francisco, California.
- The internship term is scheduled for Winter 2027.
