About the role#
As a Controls Engineer Intern on the Flight Controls team, you will contribute to the autonomous systems that guide our aircraft. You will work with data from flight tests and our global fleet to improve vehicle performance. Your work will directly impact our autonomous logistics platform and you will see your contributions fly.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and testing of flight algorithms.
- Create tools and tests to demonstrate design performance and prevent software regressions.
- Develop and improve simulation and controls analysis tools to predict vehicle performance.
- Analyze flight data to assess upgrades and identify areas for improvement.
- Design onboard integrity tests to detect system performance degradation.
What you'll need#
- Strong applied math skills.
- Experience with software engineering in C, C++, or Rust.
- Proficiency in technical computing using MATLAB, Python, or Julia.
- Familiarity with GitHub and working in multi-developer environments.
- Exposure to precision integrated inertial navigation, dynamic modeling, or linear control analysis.
- Pursuing a degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Data Science.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship located in South San Francisco, California.
- The term runs from January to April or May 2027.
